Proactive Career Management Workshop

Objective
This Workshop is designed to assist CUDOS and CAASTRO postgraduate students and post-docs find employment after their time at the centres.  The Workshop will help guide the jobsearch process by making you aware of the diversity of possible careers available, including academic, industry and governement, and equiping you with the necessary skills to find and apply for jobs.

Program
This half day workshop will comprise:

  • Interactive Panel Discussion: Listen to people who have taken different roles following a PhD in physics including the corporate, academic and start-up pathway. Hear them talk about their professional experience,why they made the choices they did, positive and negative experience (information about Panel members will be available on the CUDOS website)
  • Hands-on activities and role playing: Learn how to use your professional networks to identify job opportunities; get expert advice on, and practice preparing a top notch CV and cover letter; role play interview techniques.

Eligibility
This workshop is open to all interested CUDOS and CAASTRO personnel and others affiliated with the centres. However, as places are limited, preference will be given to later stage PhD students and Early
Career Researchers.
