Galaxy Convention

Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship

The CAASTRO Galaxy Convention (#GalCon) is a 2-day event focused on female innovation and entrepreneurship in the STEM space. Delegates include school students, school teachers, university students, researchers and STEM business leaders. Please note that, although the event is primarily directed at women, people of all genders are very welcome to attend!

Expressions of interest to attend are being taken NOW from female school students in Years 10-12 and their teachers. Registration is open for undergraduates, postgraduates and all other interested parties.

The program includes:

Sunday December 3: Interstate students and teachers are welcome to arrive and travel to Women's College at the University of Sydney today if travel on Monday morning is not possible. There'll be an optional activity this evening--dinner and a space-themed movie at Women's College.

Monday December 4: Galaxy Convention opens! Please make sure you arrive for a 9am start. During the day, from 9.00am to 5.30pm, events include panel discussions and talks from some of Australia's top scientists and STEM business leaders. Learn all about the challenges involved in STEM entrepreneurship and have a go at developing your own idea. The day will finish off with a relaxing BBQ at Women's College and a special guest speaker.

Tuesday December 5: Galaxy Convention continues (9.00am-5.00pm) with more amazing guest speakers, and will finish with team presentations. Interstate visitors can choose to travel home today or can stay overnight and travel home Wednesday morning. There'll be an optional evening activity (at your own cost) for those staying overnight--a trip to Circular Quay and the Sydney Observatory.

Limited travel funding is available for school students and teachers from outside Sydney to attend the convention. A conference fee of $50 will be charged to delegates to cover catering costs.
