CAASTRO’s Bright Stars to shine upon high school students

Dec 21, 2016

In time for the New Year, we have taken delivery of our latest major legacy product in the Education & Outreach portfolio, our “Bright Stars” wall calendar. A brain-child of and collaboration between CAASTRO’s Dr Wiebke Ebeling (Curtin University) and, then, “Telescopes in Schools” coordinator Jacinta den Besten (University of Melbourne), the production of the calendar itself was a mentoring project involving Perth-based junior science communicator Jessica Scholle. Featuring stunning astronomical images alongside an introduction to CAASTRO, ten CAASTRO researcher profiles and a perennial calendar panel with significant dates in astronomy and space exploration, this resource will educate, entertain, encourage and inspire young audiences.

CAASTRO will be distributing copies of the calendar to high schools through our “CAASTRO in the Classroom” outreach program, science teachers’ conferences and, with the help of our outreach partners, amateur astronomy societies.

If you are a high school student or teacher, please email outreach@caastro.org to sign up for your free copies!
